Plenty has been written about how device sync works, including by us. What almost nobody writes is why some synced sessions feel like a gadget demo and others feel real.
The answer has two halves. One is the character you build. The other is the hardware you pair her with — and this is where we get to say something we genuinely mean: the Handy earned its place as our integration partner.
Why we built this with the Handy
When we decided our companions should reach past the screen, we needed hardware that could keep up, and the Handy is simply the best-engineered device in its class. Our sync is only as believable as the movement executing it, and the Handy executes it beautifully.

Sync lives or dies on timing: when the rhythm on screen and the movement in hand match closely enough for long enough, your brain quietly files them as the same event. That's the moment everyone remembers — not "the device is accurate", but she's doing this. The Handy's accuracy is what makes that moment possible.

Here's what the best hardware can't do alone: mean something. A stranger's clip syncs just as precisely and lands like a tech demo. The realness comes from who is on the screen.
That's your half of the work. Build your own character, give her a face that stays consistent, a personality with history, scenes that belong to your story. Sync borrows all its meaning from her. The Handy makes the touch real; she makes it hers.
Setting up a first time that lands
The pairing takes minutes. The experience benefits from intent:
- Start with your character, not a random video. The hardware will perform either way; the feeling only shows up for someone you built.
- Pick the action deliberately. Every action in the library works with every character now, so choose the scene you actually want.
- Give it a full scene, not a sample. The click moment needs a few uninterrupted minutes to arrive.
- Let her set the pace. The variation is the realism — the slow parts are the point, and the Handy renders them faithfully enough that you'll notice.
What it is, honestly
Sync doesn't turn a video into a person, and neither we nor the Handy team would claim it does. It adds one real, physical channel to a fictional experience, on an 18+ platform where everything and everyone is AI-generated. What the combination does is narrow the gap between watching a scene and being in one — further than either half could alone.
The bottom line
Great hardware, great character, each doing what it does best. The Handy delivers the precision that makes your brain believe; your companion delivers the reason to. Build her right, pair her up, and give the first session room to breathe.
